History
The former priory of Mouzeuil, founded in 1050, was dependent on the abbey of Maillezais. Church with a single nave, built during the 12th century, of which the choir was modified in the Gothic period. The church, sacked by the Calvinists in 1562 and 1567, was not restored until 1758 (brick vault), then in 1842 by the architect Lévêque and in 1871 by the architect Loué. Since the Revolution, the church and the priory have been separated.
