L'ancien prieuré de Mouzeuil, fondé en 1050, dépendait de l'abbaye de Maillezais. Les bâtiments du prieuré ont disparu, hormis le logis prieural, édifié dans les années 1540 par Geoffroy d'Estissac, évêque de Maillezais. La grande cheminée a été remontée dans le château de la Pélissonnière, au Boupère (réf. PA85000006). Depuis la Révolution, l'église et le prieuré sont séparés. Le prieuré a été transformé en maison d'habitation.

History
The former priory of Mouzeuil, founded in 1050, was dependent on the abbey of Maillezais. The buildings of the priory have disappeared, except for the prior's lodging, built in the 1540s by Geoffroy d'Estissac, bishop of Maillezais. The great fireplace was re-erected in the château of la Pélissonnière, at le Boupère (ref. PA85000006). Since the Revolution, the church and priory have been separated. The priory was transformed into a residence.
