Historique
Attestées depuis le 17ème siècle, l'implantation des tanneries, artisanales et familiales, remonte certainement à l'époque médiévale. Les dernières unités de production ont fonctionné jusqu'à la veille de la guerre de 1914-1918. Des campagnes de fouilles ont été menées entre 2001 et 2010 et ont permis de mettre au jour des inscriptions mentionnant les noms de tanneurs ainsi que des dates (1741 et 1787). L'implantation des tanneries se concentre autour du départ du ruisseau de la Grande Fontaine. Elles comportaient à l'origine, un étage planchéié destiné au séchage des peaux et ont conservé en place les différentes structures servant à l'obtention du cuir : bassins alimentés en eau courante, dépôts de chaux dans des fosses alignées appelées des « pelains », grandes cuves rectangulaires maçonnées et cuves circulaires plus petites en pierres de taille

History
Attested since the 17th century, the establishment of tanneries, artisanal and family-run, certainly dates back to the medieval period. The last production units operated until the eve of the 1914-1918 war. Excavation campaigns were conducted between 2001 and 2010 and made it possible to uncover inscriptions mentioning the names of tanners as well as dates (1741 and 1787). The establishment of the tanneries is concentrated around the start of the Grande Fontaine stream. They originally included a boarded storey intended for the drying of hides and have preserved in place the different structures used to obtain leather: pools fed by running water, deposits of lime in aligned pits called 'pelains', large rectangular stone vats and smaller circular vats in ashlar stone.
