Historique

History
The first construction erected on the site of the Theil main dwelling dates back to the 12th century. Few elements from this period are preserved. At the end of the 19th century, the main dwelling was rebuilt by architect Paul Guillerot, strongly inspired by Renaissance style. All the upper parts were redone and the interior decoration remade. The west façade was extended by a false terrace, a two-arch bridge was built to span the moats. As for the outbuildings, only half of the south wing and the west wing remain. The current layout of the rooms, at least those of the ground floor, is still that of the medieval main dwelling as is the monumental fireplace of the library. The interior contains remarkable decoration elements: timber panelling, granite door frames, monumental fireplace, spiral staircase in granite. The park constitutes a harmonious ensemble of 200 hectares and includes three ponds. It figures as an example of an agricultural landscape park in the English style.
