History
Evidence of the quality of urban planning in the 18th century in Poitou-Charentes. Former gate destroyed in the 18th century to permit the widening of the square where fairs are held. Construction of a new gate decided in 1761 and carried out in 1762 according to designs by Le Cointe, conductor of the Ponts et Chaussées.
