Historique

History
In the early 1930s, Rigobert Cromeck and Joseph Willem discovered the Platais island. Attracted by this place and influenced by the hygienist movement in favour of outdoor sports, they decided to have a swimming pool and sports facilities built there. A large sandy beach was opened in 1935. Architects P. and L. Bourgeois built a swimming pool and a children's pool there as well as a long building inspired by steamship architecture which housed various installations (terraces, changing rooms, restaurant, bar and shop). The complex was completed by tennis courts and gymnastics equipment. The complex remained in operation until 2003.
