Son édification fut la première œuvre monumentale sur le sol français de Georges Serraz qui avait réalisé en 1927 le Christ de Madère. Le projet début en 1931 avec la statue monumentale pour s'achever définitivement avec la construction du carillon sur la même plate-forme en 1947.
Description
La statue monumentale du Christ-Roi est implantée dans un secteur boisé dominant la vallée de l'Arve et dominant une gravière en activité. Le Christ regarde vers le Mont-Blanc et l'Aiguille du Midi plus à sa gauche. Le style de la sculpture du Christ a évolué depuis Madère, même si l'aspect général est un peu contraint, le travail du visage, de la robe et l'aménagement de l'entrée sont aboutis. Le site est fonctionnel avec un oratoire orienté vers le sud et une petite entrée où trône le buste du pape Pie XI et le Vierge. Les dorures extérieures ont disparu et les dorures intérieures ont subi des repeints. Néanmoins la qualité de l'ouvrage en béton qui n'a jamais été restauré laisse admiratif tant les conditions climatiques sont hostiles. Entre le Christ et le carillon, une terrasse a été aménagée pour recevoir pèlerins et touristes.

Description
The monumental statue of Christ the King is situated in a wooded area overlooking the valley of the Arve and overlooking an active gravel pit. Christ gazes towards Mont-Blanc and the Aiguille du Midi further to his left. The style of the sculpture of Christ has evolved since Madeira, even though the overall appearance is somewhat constrained, the work on the face, the robe and the arrangement of the entrance are well-finished. The site is functional with a chapel oriented to the south and a small entrance where a bust of Pope Pius XI and the Virgin are displayed. The external gilding has disappeared and the internal gilding has undergone repainting. Nevertheless the quality of the concrete work which has never been restored remains remarkable given how hostile the climatic conditions are. Between Christ and the bell tower, a terrace has been arranged to accommodate pilgrims and tourists.
