En 1938, l'Anschluss provoque la fuite de l'Autriche et de ses stations par les skieurs anglais. Le major écossais Peter Lindsay sillonne alors les Alpes françaises à la recherche d'un nouveau site pour y fonder une station et choisit la vallée des Allues. Dès 1938, la première remontée mécanique est mise en place au-dessus du village des Allues et un an plus tard début la construction des premiers hôtels et chalets. Pour l'aménagement intérieur, Lindsay fait appel en 1939 à Charlotte Perriand. Les travaux à Méribel reprennent en 1946. Elle construit son chalet, appelé son refuge, sur un terrain d'environ 3000 m² à 1600 m d'altitude. Extérieurement, il se fond dans le paysage.

History
In 1938, the Anschluss causes the flight from Austria and its ski resorts by English skiers. The Scottish major Peter Lindsay then travels through the French Alps in search of a new site to establish a resort and chooses the Allues valley. From 1938, the first mechanical lift is installed above the village of Allues and a year later the construction of the first hotels and chalets begins.
