This submerged site is part of the lacustrine settlements studied in the Rhône-Alpes region containing the vestiges of human occupation in a wet environment, of the habitat as well as the support stakes of wooden buildings, still visible. These testimonies ranging from the Neolithic to the Bronze Age constitute one of the major themes of European prehistory. The site, submerged in Lake Bourget, corresponds to the period of the Final Bronze Age (10th-9th centuries BC). In contact with the Chautagne marsh, this sector opens onto the upper Rhône. This vast bay shelters the most extensive platform in the lake in which about fifteen sub-lacustrine deposits have been listed. In this area, dendrochronological dating from -832 to -813 from the Conjux-Port 1 site made it possible to clarify the pattern of village settlement. These dates are comparable to those already obtained from the neighbouring deposit of Chindrieux: Châtillon which marked a final phase of coastal settlement in Final Bronze Age 3b.
