Historique

History
This submerged site is part of the lakeside settlements studied in the Rhône-Alpes region containing the remains of human occupation in a wetland environment, habitation as well as the supporting piles of wooden buildings, still visible. These testimonies ranging from the Neolithic to the Bronze Age constitute one of the great themes of European prehistory. This site submerged in Lake Bourget is dated to the period of the Final Bronze Age (10th-9th centuries BC). Discovered in the 19th century, soundings were carried out in 2006, 2007 and 2009. An initial dendrochronological study revealed at least 28 phases of felling of wood differentiating the various moments of constructions, arrangements or reconstructions. They are situated between -906 and -814, that is over a short period and at a very recent period of the final bronze age.
