History
This submerged site is part of the lacustrine settlements studied in the Rhône-Alpes region containing the vestiges of human occupation in a wet environment, of the habitat as well as the support posts of wooden buildings, still visible. These testimonies ranging from the Neolithic to the Bronze Age constitute one of the great themes of European prehistory. The Grésines-east site corresponds to the Final Bronze Age. Reported from 1856, the first excavations took place between 1950 and 1975 then in 2000 by the DRASSM. This site is perceived as a reference for the Final Bronze Age due to the artefacts already extracted, the remaining archaeological potential and the prospect it offers of an understanding of the organisation of a lakeside settlement of this period.
