Historique

History
This submerged site is part of the lakeside settlements studied in the Rhône-Alpes region containing the remains of human occupation in wet environments, of dwellings as well as the supporting piles of wooden buildings, still visible. This evidence ranging from the Neolithic to the Bronze Age constitutes one of the major themes of European prehistory. The Beau-Phare site, from the final Neolithic, was surveyed as early as 1867. In 1998, a stripping of the site by the services of the DRASSM made it possible to establish the archaeological extent of the dwellings and significant lithic artefacts were uncovered.
