L'École Saint-Valère est construite à Port-sur-Saône en 1937 et 1938 grâce à la volonté du sous-secrétaire d'État à l'Agriculture et maire de Port-sur-Saône, André Liautey, sur les plans de l'architecte des Eaux et forêts, Métuchy , et de son collaborateur Debière, grâce à des subventions du sous-secrétariat d’État à l'Agriculture, par l'intermédiaire du comité de revalorisation des bois et au titre de la propagande du bois, mais aussi de subventions du ministère de l’Éducation nationale ainsi que pour les Grands Travaux d'utilité publique mis en place par le Front populaire.

L'école Saint-Valère est un bâtiment composé d'un hall, quatre salles de classes, deux vestiaires aujourd'hui transformés en bibliothèque et salle de rangement, une chaufferie, une réserve , sanitaires et lavabos, une salle à l'étage . Sa structure comme son décor sont en bois et témoignent des dernières recherches effectués sur le matériau dans les années 1930, notamment en matière d'ignifugation.

Saint-Valère school is a building composed of a hall, four classrooms, two changing rooms now converted into a library and storage room, a boiler room, a store room, sanitary facilities and washbasins, a room on the upper floor.
