Historique
Le château ou tour de Venère, avec tour d'escalier en vis hors oeuvre s'élève au sud du village. Il se compose d'un soubassement couvert de voûtes d'arêtes, d'un premier étage qui ne conserve qu'une pièce voûtée, d'un deuxième étage partiel, et d'un étage de comble en surcroît. Construit vraisemblablement vers les 13e ou 14e siècles, l'édifice était le siège d'une des trois seigneuries de Venère. Au 16e siècle ou au début du 17e siècle, l'essentiel des voûtes du premier étage disparaît ; et, à la place de l'escalier droit inscrit dans l'épaisseur d'un mur, l'escalier en vis est construit. Dans son état actuel, l'édifice conserve de nombreux éléments anciens : supports d'échauguettes en encorbellement aux angles, baies au linteau décoré d'arcs trilobés, pavage de terre cuite...

History
The castle or tower of Venère, with spiral staircase tower projecting externally, rises to the south of the village. It consists of a base covered with groin vaults, a first storey which retains only one vaulted room, a partial second storey, and an attic storey as surplus. Built probably towards the 13th or 14th centuries, the building was the seat of one of the three lordships of Venère. In the 16th or early 17th century, most of the vaults of the first floor disappeared; and, in place of the straight staircase inscribed within the thickness of a wall, the spiral staircase was built. In its present state, the building retains many old elements: corbelled gun-loops supports at the angles, openings with lintels decorated with three-lobed arches, terracotta paving...
