History
Building erected on the site of the church of Saint-Bénigne (destroyed after the Revolution) in 1837 on the plans of architect Félix-Hercule Grandmougin: complex comprising market hall, school, dwellings and shed for fire-fighting pumps. A second building block is constructed in 1839 (laundry, prison, woodshed), raised in 1852. Complex representative of the multi-functional buildings of the 19th century.
