Son architecture est inspirée des grandes cathédrales du 13e siècle, témoignant de l'interprétation archéologique, rationaliste et idéaliste de l'architecture gothique primitive. History
Work of Jean-Baptiste Schacre, one of the largest neo-gothic churches in Alsace was erected in Mulhouse between 1855 and 1860 thanks to subscriptions. The plans were corrected under the direction of Viollet-le-Duc. Its architecture is inspired by the great cathedrals of the 13th century, testifying to the archaeological, rationalist and idealistic interpretation of primitive gothic architecture. The use of modern constructive processes (brick vaults and Vassy cement, Portland cement castings) links the building to the history of techniques in the 19th century.
