The church was erected by architect Edouard Schimpf between 1911 and 1914 on the remains of a Mithraic sanctuary. It is constructed, as is the presbytery, in exposed brick. The décor was executed by the sculptor Marzolff and the painters Henri Beecke and Louis-Philippe Kamm.
