Historique
Construits côte à côte à dix ans d'intervalle (1902 et 1911) sur les plans de l'architecte Ludwig Levy, les deux anciens bâtiments ministériels étaient destinés à abriter différents services de l'administration du Reichsland d'Alsace-Lorraine jusque-là dispersés. A la différence des trois autres bâtiments officiels bordant l'ancienne Kaiserplatz, on a opté ici pour un style néo-baroque et un programme iconographique sculpté réduit à sa plus sobre expression dans les avant-corps centraux : allégories de la muse Clio et de la Justice. La plus grande partie des décors intérieurs d'origine a été préservée, notamment les entrées monumentales, les escaliers et de rares pièces d'apparat.

History
Built side by side at a ten-year interval (1902 and 1911) on the plans of the architect Ludwig Levy, the two former ministerial buildings were intended to house different services of the administration of the Reichsland of Alsace-Lorraine previously scattered. Unlike the three other official buildings bordering the former Kaiserplatz, a neo-Baroque style was chosen here and a sculptured iconographic programme reduced to its most sober expression in the central avant-corps: allegories of the muse Clio and Justice. The greater part of the original interior decorations has been preserved, notably the monumental entrances, the stairways and rare state rooms.
