Construit entre 1880 et 1884, le casino de Vernet-les-Bains est aujourd'hui l'un des seuls témoignages avec l'hôtel du Portugal, de l'ensemble thermal de la fin du XIXe siècle. En effet, l'aiguat (mot catalan évoquant la concomitance entre pluies diluviennes et inondations) d'octobre 1940 emporte l'établissement thermal, l'hôtel du parc et les villas. Même si des thermes sont attestés à Vernet dès le XIIIe siècle, leur véritable développement commence à partir de 1834. History
Built between 1880 and 1884, the casino of Vernet-les-Bains is today one of only two testaments, together with the Hotel of Portugal, to the thermal complex of the late 19th century. Indeed, the aiguat (Catalan word evoking the concomitance between torrential rains and flooding) of October 1940 sweeps away the thermal establishment, the park hotel and the villas. Even though thermal springs are attested in Vernet from the 13th century, their true development begins from 1834. The thermal station created in 1880 is frequented by an aristocratic clientele who come to enjoy its climate, its waters and its landscapes.
