Découverte à la fin des années 1980, suite à des pillages, la grotte fait l'objet de recherches archéologiques depuis 2001. La séquence stratigraphique reconnue à ce jour s'étend du Magdalénien moyen au Mésolithique. La densité des vestiges est très importante et comporte une abondance de restes d'oiseaux. Il s'agit d'un site d'occupation de mai à octobre. L'originalité du site est de présenter une diversité d'activités ce qui modifie la vision de l'organisation territoriale au magdalénien. Les collections archéologiques issues des fouilles ont été acquises par le musée national de la préhistoire des Eyzies.

History
Discovered in the late 1980s, following looting, the cave has been the subject of archaeological research since 2001. The stratigraphic sequence recognized to date extends from the middle Magdalenian to the Mesolithic. The density of remains is very high and includes an abundance of bird remains. It is a site of occupation from May to October. The originality of the site is to present a diversity of activities which modifies the view of territorial organization in the Magdalenian. The archaeological collections resulting from the excavations were acquired by the national museum of prehistory at Les Eyzies.
