Réalisé en 1922, ce monument représente, selon son auteur Lucien Danglade, « un grenadier défendant à ses pieds la tombe d'un de ses camarades. Gravissant les marches du socle, une Basquaise, vêtue de la « capa », vient prier au pied du monument ; elle a la vision de son fils ou de son époux combattant sur le champ de bataille ». L'édifice comporte quelques éléments locaux : une stèle discoïdale et le soldat porte un béret à la place du casque.

History
Completed in 1922, this monument represents, according to its creator Lucien Danglade, 'a grenadier defending at his feet the tomb of one of his comrades. Climbing the steps of the base, a Basque woman, dressed in the 'capa', comes to pray at the foot of the monument; she has a vision of her son or her husband fighting on the battlefield'. The edifice includes some local elements: a discoid stele and the soldier wears a beret in place of a helmet.
