La butte de Bréon ou Brion, dune altitude moyenne (1273 m), conserve les vestiges dun château protégé par un fossé, dune basse-cour et dune enceinte. Ce château était le siège dune seigneurie apparue à la fin du Xe ou au début du XIe siècle ; la famille de Bréon occupa une place importante parmi les familles nobles dAuvergne au Moyen Âge.

History
The mound of Bréon or Brion, of average altitude (1273 m), preserves the vestiges of a castle protected by a moat, a lower courtyard and an enclosure. This castle was the seat of a lordship that appeared at the end of the 10th or beginning of the 11th century; the Bréon family occupied an important place among the noble families of Auvergne in the Middle Ages.
