Historique
Avant la Révolution, l'église était le centre d'un prieuré dépendant de l'abbaye de Saint-Michel de Cluze, en Piémont. L'édifice roman a été modifié sans doute au 15e siècle, date à laquelle une partie des voûtes ont été refaites sur croisées d'ogives. Les voûtes en berceau ont également dû être refaites, ces dernières ne correspondant pas aux arcs doubleaux. Les chapiteaux romans sont sculptés de feuillages stylisés. Des culots et un tympan portent des sculptures naïves remontant au 15e siècle. Le plan présente une nef unique terminée par une abside en hémicycle et un clocher à base rectangulaire. Cette église témoigne, par son choeur, des débuts de l'art roman en Auvergne, et par sa nef, d'un aspect assez rustique de l'art gothique dans cette province.

History
Before the Revolution, the church was the centre of a priory dependent on the abbey of Saint-Michel de Cluze, in Piedmont. The Romanesque building was modified probably in the 15th century, at which date some of the vaults were remade with rib vaults. The barrel vaults were also probably remade, the latter not corresponding to the transverse arches. The Romanesque capitals are carved with stylised foliage. Corbels and a tympanum bear naive sculptures dating from the 15th century. The plan presents a single nave terminated by a hemicycle apse and a bell tower with a rectangular base. This church testifies, by its choir, to the beginnings of Romanesque art in Auvergne, and by its nave, to a fairly rustic aspect of Gothic art in this province.
