Historique
Gare routière réalisée de 1961 à 1964 par l'architecte Valentin Vigneron. La construction est caractérisée par l'ordonnance de son classicisme structurel, unifiée par la répétition d'un module de base et une colonnade discontinue. Le bâtiment possède une ossature en béton armé organisée selon une trame régulière de murs porteurs qui encadre les vitrages, claustra et les panneaux de remplissage en lave émaillée. La façade sur rue comporte onze travées rythmées par des colonnes tronconiques. La façade arrière présente des quais d'embarquement destinés au chargement des bagages et colis sur le toit des autocars, et dotés d'auvents-passerelles en porte-à-faux. Le hall central est couvert d'une coupole surbaissée surmontée d'un lanterneau et reposant sur des colonnes. Il a fait l'objet d'un programme décoratif complet incluant des sols à dessin géométrique en granito et comblanchien ainsi que des décors en béton de Jean Mosnier

History
Bus station realised from 1961 to 1964 by architect Valentin Vigneron. The construction is characterised by the arrangement of its structural classicism, unified by the repetition of a basic module and a discontinuous colonnade. The building has a reinforced concrete frame organised according to a regular grid of load-bearing walls which frame the glazing, claustra and infill panels in enamelled lava. The street façade comprises eleven bays rhythmed by truncated cone columns. The rear façade presents boarding platforms intended for loading baggage and parcels onto the roof of buses, and fitted with cantilever canopy-gangways. The central hall is covered by a flattened dome surmounted by a lantern and resting on columns. It was subject to a complete decorative programme including floors with geometric patterning in granite and Comblanchien stone as well as decorative elements in concrete by Jean Mosnier.
