Historique
Maison construite en 1912 par l'architecte Louis Raynaud pour le compte d'Auguste Bernardin qui exécuta de nombreux ouvrages de ferronnerie publics ou privés. L'édifice réunissait les fonctions de production et d'habitation tout en assurant leur indépendance. Au rez-de-chaussée, un espace vaste et fonctionnel, utilisable grâce aux structures métalliques évitant toute division intérieur, ouvert vers l'extérieur par de grandes verrières. Au premier étage, en retrait, un logement donnant sur deux terrasses. L'autre fonction du bâtiment fut de présenter une sorte d'enseigne ou de vitrine pour l'activité artisanale qui l'abritait : la grille de ferronnerie fermant la cour côté rue, réalisée par Auguste Bernardin constitue une pièce exceptionnelle par sa complexité, l'élégance de son dessin et l'exubérance de son décor.

History
House built in 1912 by the architect Louis Raynaud for Auguste Bernardin who executed numerous works of ironwork, public or private. The building combined the functions of production and dwelling whilst ensuring their independence. On the ground floor, a vast and functional space, usable thanks to metal structures avoiding any interior division, open to the outside by large glass panels. On the first floor, set back, a dwelling giving onto two terraces. The building's other function was to present a sort of sign or display window for the craft activity it housed: the ironwork grille closing the courtyard on the street side, executed by Auguste Bernardin constitutes an exceptional piece by its complexity, the elegance of its design and the exuberance of its décor.
