Construit de 1896 à 1899, le lycée de jeunes filles est l'oeuvre de l'architecte Jean Teillard. Bâtiment de plan en U entourant une cour intérieure fermée par un portique qui dominait des jardins en terrasse. La distribution des bâtiments repose sur leur destination (administration ; bâtiments des élèves...) et leur utilisation (salles de classe, dortoirs...). La mise en oeuvre architecturale repose sur un souci de fonctionnalisme (mise en évidence des structures) , de modernité (matériaux nouveaux) et d'esthétique (emploi de matériaux de couleur et de forme variées). Cet édifice est l'un des plus beaux exemples de construction scolaire de la troisième république.

History
Built between 1896 and 1899, the girls' secondary school is the work of architect Jean Teillard. Building of U-shaped plan surrounding an interior courtyard enclosed by a portico that overlooked terraced gardens. The distribution of the buildings is based on their purpose (administration; student buildings...) and their use (classrooms, dormitories...). The architectural execution is based on a concern for functionalism (emphasis on structures), modernity (new materials) and aesthetics (use of materials of varied colour and form). This building is one of the finest examples of school construction from the Third Republic.
