History
Jacques Alleman was entrusted with the reconstruction of the south-east sector of the Grand'Place following the near-total destruction of the city centre during the First World War. In an original regionalist style, respecting the space of the square and the old plot divisions, he created a theatrical urban décor and developed a picturesque neo-Flemish style with a very slender gable on the street. Each building houses a shop on the ground floor and dwellings on the upper storeys.
