Historique
La chapelle dite du Souvenir a été édifiée dans lenceinte de lécole de lImmaculée Conception pour commémorer le souvenir des morts de la Première Guerre mondiale. Egalement chapelle du petit séminaire, elle est construite de 1926 à 1932 à linitiative de lévêque de Sées, par larchitecte diocésain Louis Pignard. Lédifice est construit en béton armé. Son clocher de façade présente des décors en claustra qui évoquent léglise du Raincy. Des artistes de renom comme Emile Beaume, prix de Rome, et Louis Barillet, interviennent pour décorer toutes les parois de la chapelle. Laménagement liturgique et les détails décoratifs sont soignés. Le traitement de lorgue a été spécialement étudié dans sa décoration à la fois murale (les anges musiciens) et mobilière (le buffet et la marqueterie). Lensemble du décor est très représentatif de lart sacré de lépoque, influencé par luvre de Maurice Denis, et constitue un cas unique en Basse-Normandie.

History
The chapel known as the Chapel of Remembrance was built within the grounds of the Immaculate Conception school to commemorate the memory of those who died in the First World War. Also the chapel of the minor seminary, it was constructed from 1926 to 1932 on the initiative of the Bishop of Sées, by diocesan architect Louis Pignard. The building is constructed in reinforced concrete. Its facade bell tower features decorative claustra elements which evoke the church of Le Raincy. Renowned artists such as Emile Beaume, Prix de Rome winner, and Louis Barillet, intervened to decorate all the walls of the chapel. The liturgical arrangement and decorative details are carefully executed. The treatment of the organ was specially studied in its decoration both as a mural element (the musical angels) and as furnishings (the case and marquetry). The entire decoration is highly representative of the sacred art of the period, influenced by the work of Maurice Denis, and constitutes a unique case in Lower Normandy.
