Occupée par les Français le 18 septembre 1914, cette butte se trouvait sur la ligne de front allant de Tracy-le-Val à la ferme de Maison-Rouge. Une compagnie entière de Zouaves fut ensevelie par l'explosion d'une mine allemande en décembre 1914. Six otages y furent fusillés par les nazis en 1942. Le site est également un haut lieu de la Résistance française.

History
Occupied by the French on 18 September 1914, this hillock was on the front line running from Tracy-le-Val to the Maison-Rouge farm. An entire company of Zouaves was buried by the explosion of a German mine in December 1914. Six hostages were shot by the Nazis there in 1942. The site is also a major place of French Resistance.
