Historique
Dans une partie de l'ancien couvent des Minimes, vendu à la Révolution, la ville installe en 1792 les frères de la Doctrine Chrétienne. Après avoir quitté les lieux, ils y reviennent en 1818 et transforment certaines parties des bâtiments. L'église ayant été vendue en 1791, les frères aménagent une chapelle au premier étage, conçue comme un oratoire baroque du 17e siècle, avec des décors italianisants. La chapelle renferme les armoirires de l'archiprêtre de Saint-Jacques de Compiègne. D'après la tradition orale, la chapelle serait une création des frères, le décor de grisailles étant attribué à Victor Mariage, entré sous le nom de Fr. Victoris.

History
In a part of the former convent of the Minimes, sold at the Revolution, the city installed in 1792 the brothers of the Christian Doctrine. After leaving the premises, they returned in 1818 and transformed certain parts of the buildings. The church having been sold in 1791, the brothers arranged a chapel on the first floor, designed as a Baroque oratory of the 17th century, with Italianate decorations. The chapel contains the cupboards of the archpriest of Saint-Jacques de Compiègne. According to oral tradition, the chapel would be a creation of the brothers, the grisaille decoration being attributed to Victor Mariage, who entered under the name of Fr. Victoris.
