Historique

History
Inaugurated in 1922, the station was rebuilt on the site of the old one, by architects Gustave Umbdenstock and Urbain Cassan. They drew inspiration from Renaissance architecture, departing from the usual plan of the stations of the Northern Railway Company. The whole is topped by a campanile without bell tower, with clock (commissioned from the Vérité house) and spire. On the façade stand out the arms of the city with cross of war and motto. The construction is in mixed masonry of stone and bricks. The flooring is in reinforced cement, over cellar. Inside, the floors are in wood. The main inscriptions are in ceramic stoneware, the commemorative plaque in Comblanchien. The wrought iron lanterns and the chandelier are due to ironworker Lerolle. On the main façade, several openings are organized around the central door. A large triangular pediment occupies the central part of the façade, flanked by two dormers, imitating Flemish style. Inside, decor in joinery, mosaic tilework, glassware.
