Construite en 1913 par l'architecte tourquennois Jean-Baptiste Maillard pour l'industriel et peintre Ernest Desurmont. La famille Desurmont avait fait fortune au début du XX e siècle dans la toile qui servait de garniture intérieure aux pneus Michelin.

Grand amateur et collectionneur d'antiquités, Desurmont fournit à l'architecte les principaux éléments de la façade : colonnes du porche, pierres sculptées, fers forgés et même la porte récupérée de la prison de l'ancien hôtel de ville (porte de garage). A l'intérieur, les pièces sont de petits volumes, ornées de boiseries anciennes adaptées aux dimensions des pièces. Les éléments de décor, principalement dans le goût de la Renaissance flamande donnent à la maison un caractère original.

History
Built in 1913 by Tourcoing architect Jean-Baptiste Maillard for industrialist and painter Ernest Desurmont. The Desurmont family had made their fortune in the early 20th century in canvas which served as interior lining for Michelin tyres.
Description
A great amateur and collector of antiquities, Desurmont supplies to the architect the principal elements of the façade: porch columns, carved stones, wrought ironwork and even the door recovered from the prison of the old town hall (garage door). Inside, the rooms are small in volume, adorned with old woodwork adapted to the dimensions of the rooms. The decorative elements, principally in the taste of Flemish Renaissance give the house an original character.
