Au tournant des 19e et 20e siècles, l'urgence de la distribution en eau répond à un essor industriel rapide et à une évolution démographique croissante. La municipalité décide de construire, boulevard Lacordaire, deux premiers réservoirs. Datés de 1885, ils sont dus à l'ingénieur Auguste Binet. En 1930, l'ingénieur Nourtier construit l'autre paire. Il s'agit des réservoirs situés aux deux extrémités. Ces quatre réservoirs présentent tous une élévation à deux niveaux, servant de support à la cuve ; leur maçonnerie de brique rouge est richement décorée. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the urgency of water distribution responds to rapid industrial growth and growing demographic evolution.
