Cette église néo-gothique a été construite entre 1852 et 1865 par l'architecte arrageois Grigny. Elle sert de lieu de pèlerinage : Notre-Dame du Saint-Cordon est la protectrice de Valenciennes depuis le 11e siècle. Le décor sculpté est l'oeuvre de Charles Boulanger, Ernest-Eugène Hiolle et Louis Auvray. Les verrières ont été réalisées par le verrier Charles Lévêque ; elles ont été en partie détruites en 1918.

History
This neo-Gothic church was built between 1852 and 1865 by the architect from Arras Grigny. It serves as a place of pilgrimage: Notre-Dame du Saint-Cordon has been the protectress of Valenciennes since the 11th century. The sculptural decoration is the work of Charles Boulanger, Ernest-Eugène Hiolle and Louis Auvray. The stained glass windows were created by the glazier Charles Lévêque; they were partly destroyed in 1918.
