History
This hôtel was constituted from three houses united, dating from the late 17th century and the 18th century. The building bears the name of its last owner, Gustave Mer, who bequeathed it to the city's hospices in 1956. Its winter garden, a glazed gallery, was built around 1900. It is decorated with painted glasses realized by Ernest Haussaire, master glazier of Lille, representing motifs of birds and butterflies, and with murals realized by the painter Alfred Membré, of Lille.
