Historique

History
The industrial origin of the site dates back to 1756. The forges operated until 1864. In 1837, a tannery mill is created and, in 1857, a connecting canal between the river and the Nantes to Brest canal is built. In 1932, a hydroelectric plant is built, accompanied by the keeper's house. This is the transformation of an industrial site into an agricultural and landscape domain around the former master of the forges house built in the 1760s, and transformed into a neo-Louis XIII château in the 19th century. A first enlargement in depth and length took place in the 1850s, to which were added two symmetrical lateral pavilions at the end of the century. Inside, the reception rooms and dining room are distributed around a central hall in which is placed a wooden staircase. The old kitchen in the basement has retained its layout. In 1888, the landscape architect Killian designs a garden project which will not be realized. In the years 1887, he had the farm built at the entrance to the estate. From 1908 onwards, the courtyard preceding the residence is framed by two buildings: the "ambulance" (social and medical service) and the "little house" which contained offices on either side of which were aligned workers' housing. A garden with parterres of boxwood embroidery is created to provide work for unemployed workers. The ensemble is completed by a vast basin bordered by a nymphaeum. The old blast furnace serves as a water reservoir. The chapel is enlarged in 1895 and takes on a Latin cross plan. The small bell tower with four sides on a quadrangular base is replaced by a spire in the 1990s. The town consists of small identical houses, grouped by two semi-detached units.
