History
The forges of Lanouée, one of the most important industrial sites in Brittany, operated from 1760 to 1864. From this period the blast furnace survives. The current site comprises various buildings distributed throughout a park: the chapel of 1760 which became a parish church in 1901, the former residence of the master of the forges, outbuildings, a French garden with basin and nymphaeum, the dwellings, the service buildings, the blast furnace, the farm. A navigation canal, connecting to the canal linking Nantes to Brest, was created in 1857 for the transport of products.
