Au-delà de la place aux Canons, le site des Pâtis servait d'espace de déchargement des navires marchands puis, il fut entouré de remparts et défendu par la citadelle achevée au 17e siècle, et devint son Champ de Mars. A la fin du 19e siècle et au début du 20e siècle, ce fut un lieu de villégiature à la mode. C'est aujourd'hui un terrain vague défiguré par des terrains de sport et divers commerces de loisir ainsi qu'un lieu de festivités.

History
For the history of the fortifications, see notice PA00091585. Beyond the Place aux Canons, the site of the Pâtis served as a space for unloading merchant ships and then it was surrounded by ramparts and defended by the citadel completed in the 17th century, and became its Champ de Mars. At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, it was a fashionable resort. Today it is a wasteland disfigured by sports fields and various leisure businesses as well as a place for festivities.
