Fief of the du Homme family since feudal times, the domain of Chassilly sees the succession of several buildings. In the 17th century, a first castle probably replaces a primitive manor. From 1868 onwards, a new castle is reconstructed by Gustave Louis Eugène Pillaut du Homme in the neogothic style.

Realised in the neogothic style, the reconstructed castle comprises several pavilions and circular towers nested around a central body, according to an irregular elongated plan. They create in elevation a picturesque silhouette animated by numerous setbacks. The construction, in schist rubble stone and brick, with plinth, framings, quoins and decorative elements in granite ashlar, is covered with slate roofs, bristling with chimneys and zinc ridge finials. Particularly well preserved, Chassilly castle retains its layout and the majority of its interior decorations. The eastern wing preserves remains of the earlier building and houses a chapel. The former outbuildings and farm buildings, arranged to the east, as well as the former kitchen garden (reused balustrade) to the north, bear witness to the economy of the domain in the 19th and 20th centuries. The whole is set in an English-style park of 40 hectares, with many old specimens and partially visible amenities (hydraulic system, culvert and artificial watercourse).
