La batterie des Marettes était la plus importante batterie d'artillerie du nord -Cotentin. Elle joua un rôle déterminant dans la prise du port de Cherbourg par les troupes du Général Collins.

Work of the Atlantic Wall comprising three casemates for large-calibre guns (240 mm), which surveyed the roadstead of Cherbourg. The Marettes battery was the most important artillery battery in northern Cotentin. It played a decisive role in the capture of the port of Cherbourg by the troops of General Collins.
