The probable mission of the support point Stp.121 was to defend the entrance to the port of Barfleur and access to the southern beach in the perspective of an allied landing. The defence of the entire site is essentially articulated around two casemates of Regelbau 677 type for 8.8 cm Pak gun and Regelbau 667, six Bf.58c, one Bf.69, one emplacement of Ringstand 1694 type and one VF/Skoda. The work is undated (it is conceivable that it started in 1942 or later in 1943). An imposing anti-tank wall flanks the southern part of the port of Barfleur starting almost from the Cracko dyke. The port of Barfleur retains elements built as early as June 1944 by the American army which immediately used this small fishing port for logistic purposes. This was only possible at high tide, caboteurs being able then to enter the port to unload their cargo directly onto the quay. To do so, the Americans built six concrete mooring posts much higher and wider than those which had previously been used to secure the trawlers. At the foot of one of these mooring posts, one can see a set of names of American soldiers inscribed in the concrete along with a chronograph: "1944".
