L'ancienne maison commune fut détruit en 1611 par l'explosion d'une réserve de poudre et reconstruit aussitôt, intégrant dans le nouveau bâtiment des pans de murs médiévaux, derniers vestiges du bâtiment qui fut le symbole des premières franchises accordées à la ville par les seigneurs d'Albret. La nouvelle construction, siège des instances gestionnaires d'une cité calviniste, présente une porte dont le décor souscrit aux thèmes ornementaux du début du 17e siècle.

History
The old town hall was destroyed in 1611 by the explosion of a powder store and immediately rebuilt, incorporating into the new building sections of medieval walls, the last vestiges of the building which was the symbol of the first charters granted to the city by the lords of Albret. The new construction, seat of the governing bodies of a Calvinist city, presents a door whose decoration subscribes to the ornamental themes of the early 17th century.
