Historique

History
The existence of the seigneury of Amoy is attested from 1209. The estate was enlarged in the middle of the 17th century through various acquisitions. The present château of Amoy probably dates from this period. After the Revolution, the outbuildings were restored and new constructions were erected, notably encroaching on the moats to the east. The wooded park situated to the south is crossed by two straight avenues. The forecourt provides access, by a fixed bridge, to a quadrangular platform, surrounded by dry moats, which supports the main dwelling as well as the outbuildings. This platform is probably very ancient: the basement of the towers that flanked it, still visible for some of them, preserves rows of ashlar stones probably of medieval origin. The main dwelling consists of an entresol level, a ground floor surmounted by a square storey and a roof-space level. The main north façade features five pediments alternately triangular and curved and three on the south side, all triangular. Two roof crests are visible at the level of the roofing. The current plan shows extensive transformations as well as a larger occupied area. In the late 19th century or early 20th century, the elevations were pierced anew, losing their original appearance.
