Historique
Cette maison a été édifiée au tout début du 20e siècle, entre 1900 et 1912. Elle est remarquable par ses ouvrages de charpenterie et notamment par la complexité de ses trois lucarnes de comble, particulièrement visibles au croisement du boulevard de Chateaudun et de la rue du Faubourg-Saint-Jean. Elles sont l'oeuvre d'un jeune charpentier renard de 17 ans, Pierre Renard, qui voulait prouver son savoir-faire. Il a accumulé les difficultés techniques alors qu'elles ne répondent à aucune nécessité matérielle existante. Il a réalisé des sortes de chef d'oeuvres qui rivalisent d'originalité : capucine à liens tenaille et faîtage relevé, lucarne à chevalet et faîtage relevé, guitarde rampante à flèche romboïdale torse.

History
This house was built in the very early 20th century, between 1900 and 1912. It is remarkable for its carpentry works and notably for the complexity of its three roof dormers, particularly visible at the intersection of the boulevard de Chateaudun and the rue du Faubourg-Saint-Jean. They are the work of a young carpenter of 17 years, Pierre Renard, who wanted to prove his skill. He accumulated technical difficulties even though they responded to no existing practical necessity. He created a sort of masterpieces that rivalled each other in originality: capucine with tenaille ties and raised ridge, chevalet dormer with raised ridge, rampant guitarde with twisted rhomboidal arrow.
