Une église est mentionnée dès le 12e siècle. En 1839, l'ancienne église qui menaçait ruine était devenue trop exiguë. La municipalité et la population demandèrent sa reconstruction sur le même emplacement. Le programme établi par la municipalité en 1840 précise qu'elle devra être de style gothique. La réalisation du projet établi par l'architecte Narcisse Perrard dura jusqu'en 1848, avec création de mobilier. Le traitement de la façade antérieur est d'un néogothique bien caractérisé avec archivoltes à certaines baies, pinacles. La composition est dominée par le clocher-porche accompagné par deux chapelles. Le choeur, flanqué par deux sacristies, se termine par une abside à pans. Le vaisseau central et les collatéraux sont couverts de voûtes d'arêtes traitées en croisées d'ogives. Les formerets sont feints. Chapiteaux et culots sont ornés de feuillages.
