Historique

History
The Benedictine abbey of Vaux-sur-Poligny had become a minor seminary in the 19th century. In 1870, its superior, Abbé Petit, purchased the mill to the East of the former abbey, jointly with his niece who married shortly after Louis Milcent, auditor at the Council of State. This adherent of the social ideas of the Marquis de la Tour du Pin and Count Albert de Mun found there a rural location which made him the creator of the agricultural syndicate of the arrondissement of Poligny in 1884 and then co-founder in 1885 of the mutual credit association of the arrondissement of Poligny - First local agricultural credit bank, with Alfred Bouvet and the Marquis de Froissard. Meanwhile, he had developed the estate of Vaux. The Besançon architect Ducat was entrusted with the construction of a spacious dwelling on the foundations of the mill, perpendicular to the valley. The landscape architect Brice Michel laid out the park, staging the course of the Glantine. Outbuildings and a farm are arranged along the national road from which a gate and a street provide access to the property. It also includes a burial chapel on the South slope. The main dwelling retains the original layout and decorations. Complete ensemble, well preserved, relatively documented, this château is distinguished from similar dwellings of this period by the exceptional development of a reculée site characteristic of the Jura.
