History
A source of petroleum existed at Gabian in Roman times. It was exploited for therapeutic purposes in the Middle Ages and modern period. The "font de l'Oli" presents itself as a small stone building, erected at the end of the 18th century at the request of the bishop of Béziers, Bausset de Roquefort, which surmounts a series of conduits and underground basins intended for the capture of petroleum. The spring dried up at the beginning of the 19th century.
