Création ex-nihilo dans le cadre de l'aménagement du littoral languedocien mis en oeuvre par la mission Racine, la ville de la Grande-Motte peut être considérée à la fois comme le seul exemple de ville balnéaire du 20e siècle et comme une ville nouvelle, oeuvre intégrale conçue et réalisée avec un soin constant par un architecte en chef dont c'est l'oeuvre de 30 ans. La ville a reçu le label Patrimoine du 20e siècle en janvier 2010. Le Point Zéro constitue l'équipement public principal de la place côté est : parkings, services de plage (cabines de déshabillage, douches et poste de surveillance de baignade), commerces, jeux d'enfants, jardins, terrasse publique protégée des vents par un mur-sculpture réalisé en 1967-68 par Michèle Goalard.

L'élément exceptionnel du bâtiment est le voile plissé de béton brut de décoffrage, insolite, plastique, fortement articulé, qui constitue sa partie est, fermant en quelque sorte le quartier du Levant. History
Created from scratch as part of the development of the Languedoc coast implemented by the Racine mission, the town of La Grande-Motte can be considered both as the sole example of a 20th-century seaside resort and as a new town, an integral work conceived and realized with constant care by a chief architect for whom it was the work of 30 years. The town received the 20th Century Heritage label in January 2010. The Point Zéro constitutes the main public facility on the square on the east side: car parks, beach services (changing cabins, showers and bathing supervision post), shops, children's games, gardens, public terrace protected from winds by a sculpture-wall realized in 1967-68 by Michèle Goalard.
Description
The exceptional element of the building is the pleated veil of raw concrete, striking, plastic, strongly articulated, which constitutes its east part, closing in some way the Levant district. Its current condition is worrying due to the abandonment of which it is the object by the commune which removed all the municipal services housed there over the years, and the risks of change of use that could result from a sale of the communal part.
