Historique
Cette bâtisse a été édifiée pour Jean Léon Dufau de Lamothe, entre 1762 et 1765, par un architecte dont nous ignorons l'identité, sur un terrain occupé par des échoppes et des jardins. Pendant 30 ans, il procède à l'acquisition de parcelles situées derrière sa maison pour constituer un vaste jardin. Après avoir été vendue par la fille du concepteur, cette bâtisse a été utilisée comme pensionnat de jeunes filles pendant la quasi-totalité du XIXe siècle. Elle est alors rehaussée d'un étage. Une chapelle, dont le décor peint a été conservé mais est en mauvais état, a été aménagé à cette période dans la cave.

History
This building was erected for Jean Léon Dufau de Lamothe, between 1762 and 1765, by an architect whose identity we do not know, on a plot occupied by shops and gardens. For 30 years, he proceeded to acquire parcels of land behind his house to constitute a vast garden. After being sold by the daughter of the original owner, this building was used as a girls' boarding school for virtually the entire 19th century. It was then raised by one storey. A chapel, whose painted décor has been preserved but is in poor condition, was fitted out in the basement during this period.
Description
The architecture of this hôtel particulier is sober. Several elements of secondary work are preserved, such as the entrance grille, the staircase with its handrail, wainscoting and fireplaces.
