Historique
La construction débute en 1861 sous l'égide d'Adolphe Thiac et est achevée par l'architecte Labbé. L'édifice présente les caractères architecturaux des autres constructions publiques dues à Thiac : axe central autour duquel se développent des cours carrées. Le sculpteur Coëffard a représenté sur les murs de la cour d'honneur, autour de l'effigie de l'abbé de l'Epée, les signes de l'alphabet dactylologique, disposés entre les baies. L'avant-corps central est très eclectique. Au-delà du porche monumental, un vestibule à colonnes conduit vers la chapelle axiale dont le cul de four du choeur a été décoré en 1865 par J. Villiet dans un style inspiré de Fra Angelico. De part et d'autre de cet élément central, deux cours distribuaient les locaux d'enseignement et le pensionnat.

History
Construction began in 1861 under the direction of Adolphe Thiac and was completed by architect Labbé. The edifice presents the architectural characteristics of other public buildings designed by Thiac: a central axis around which square courtyards develop.
